EXPOSURE TRIANGLE IN PHOTOGRAPHY

EXPOSURE TRIANGLE IN PHOTOGRAPHY

It's all about the camera's manual mode of operation. To get a perfectly exposed image you need to understand the exposure triangle well.

This is an exposure triangle that has three important terms which are related to photography that is:

a) ISO

b)SHUTTER SPEED

c)APERTURE

This exposure triangle diagram is a great reference to use when determining what settings will allow more light in and what side effects it would entail.

WHAT ARE CAMERA MODES? HOW DOES IT BE WORKS?

The camera can be used in three modes.

a) Auto Mode - In auto mode you don't have any control over the camera. It will automatically set all the parameters like iso, shutter speed, and aperture as per the scenario by itself

b) Aperture-priority Mode (A)- In A mode you have to set your aperture as needed and the camera will automatically set the other parameter Iso and Shutter speed on its own.

c)Shutter-priority Mode (S)- In S mode you have to set your shutter speed as needed and the camera will automatically set the other parameter Iso and Aperture on its own.

d)Manual Mode (M)- In manual mode, you have full control on your camera to use Iso, Shutter Speed, and Aperture by your requirements your camera won't control anything.

Let Understand the Exposure triangle in detail with help of images.

In this first picture, the image is perfectly exposed. The Object has the proper amount of light to see the picture into the viewer's eyes. In this photo, we have used the following settings F/5.6 S 1/8 and ISO 800.

In the second image, the image is underexposed and the image loses the details and collected less amount of light by changing only the aperture of the camera. You can fix this by fixing the shutter speed as shown in the image above or iso in the camera as shown in the picture to get the perfectly exposed image like the first image.

CAMERA EXPOSURE METER/HOW DOES IT WORK TO GET A PERFECTLY EXPOSED IMAGE?

While changing the shutter speed, aperture, or iso in Manual mode this indicator will tell you whether the image is underexposed or overexposed. If the indicator turns to the left then your photo is underexposed whereas if it turns to the right your photo will be overexposed.

This camera exposure indicator helps you to give a perfectly exposed image. While shooting the picture always read this indicator to get a perfectly exposed image.

NOTE: This is the way to operate the camera in Manual mode. You need to do more experiments at home to master this three-parameter of the camera then I must say your photography will improve a lot.

ACTIVE D-LIGHTING IN PHOTOGRAPHY

WHAT IS ACTIVE D-LIGHTING? Active-D Lighting  expands the  dynamic range  of your camera’s sensor  Active D-Lighting is often best left off when shooting in RAW. There is a glossary. When strong lighting increases the contrast between bright and dark areas of an image. It causes the shadow and highlight details to be lost as shown in the image below. The image on the left shows the balanced lighting achieved when Advanced D-Lighting is turned off. The image on the right was taken with D-Lighting turned on. Notice the dark areas in the foreground and background of the image. WHEN TO USE ACTIVE D-LIGHTING ? Basically, it is used in low light conditions or extreme sunlight conditions to expose the image well without changing the other parameter to get the perfect details in the image.

COMPOSITION IN PHOTOGRAPHY

COMPOSITION IN PHOTOGRAPHY Composition in photography refers to the position of elements inside the frame and how they interact with each other. Ultimately, the composition is about the visual structure of your image.  By using composition your photo looks very attractive and interesting and it will be easy for the viewers to understand the subject and the story of the image. Note : Y ou cannot click good images  By just using ISO , Shutter Speed , and Aperture . You need to understand composition as well to take appealing images. THE ELEMENTS OF COMPOSITION a) THE RULE OF THIRDS Using the rule of thirds in photography creates visual interest and impact in your photos. Gridlines divide your scene into thirds, both horizontally and Vertically.  These lines and the four points at which they meet create areas on your frame for placing subjects and essential elements as shown in the image below. b)   CENTERED COMPOSITION If your frame is wide and if you found foregr...
